Mazdzērvītes Farm Invests €1.96 Million in Development

Mazdzērvītes, a family-run farm specializing in dairy and beef cattle breeding, is modernizing its cow barn and introducing automated milking systems with the support of a €1.96 million financing from Industra Bank. This investment will significantly improve herd welfare and productivity.

Part of the loan was used to refinance existing commitments, while the majority was directed towards farm development, including barn reconstruction and equipment upgrades. The project was supported by financial consultant SIA Leveria.

Jānis Diedišķis, Member of the Management Board of Industra Bank responsible for business development and customer service, emphasizes: "For us, a client is never just a number – it’s always a real entrepreneur with specific needs, and our financial solutions are tailored accordingly. Just like Mazdzērvītes – it’s not just a herd or a field, but a family business nurtured over generations, where every family member plays a vital role.”

Jānis Ločmelis, Head of Mazdzērvītes, adds: “When starting our partnership with the bank, it was important for us that they take a long-term view of the business, not just a few years ahead. This worked out well, and the financing process was smooth, fast, and cooperative. The bank understands the specifics of agricultural business and the need for financing.”

As part of the modernization project, Mazdzērvītes has upgraded its barn with five DeLaval milking robots, allowing the farm to increase its dairy herd to 340 cows, significantly reducing manual labor and improving overall efficiency. These automated systems not only provide critical data for herd performance analysis but also improve animal welfare by allowing cows to move freely and be milked at any time of the day. This ensures a calm and continuous milking process, reduces feed costs, improves breeding results, and ultimately leads to healthier, more productive cows.

Mazdzērvītes, located in Kocēni, Valmiera region, has been recognized as one of the most beautiful farms in Latvia. It is a multi-generational family business, currently managed by the three sons of its founder, Jānis Ločmelis, and their families. The farm manages 550 hectares of land.
