Industra Experience

Head of Customer Service and Support Ināra Basse on Customer Relationships

As many financial institutions continue to move customer interactions into the digital space, Industra Bank remains committed to a personal approach and meaningful conversations with every customer.

Moody’s rating – a mark of trust

— Industra Bank became the first locally owned bank in Latvia to receive a rating from the international credit rating agency Moody’s Ratings. What does this mean for customers?

A Moody’s rating is an internationally recognised mark of credibility, demonstrating a bank’s stability, capital adequacy and quality of governance.

Industra Bank is one of only two banks in Latvia that Moody’s has assessed as an independent bank operating in Latvia. We have been assigned a long-term deposit rating of Ba2 with a stable outlook, confirming the Bank’s stability and providing an important benchmark for customers and depositors.

— Industra Bank places significant focus on exporting businesses. Why have you chosen this direction?

As a locally owned bank, we see our role as supporting the growth of Latvian businesses. Exporters often require an individual approach and a deeper understanding of the specifics of their business. Our strength lies in our ability to understand each customer’s situation and provide financial solutions tailored to their needs.

— How would you describe the Bank, and what sets it apart from other banks?

Industra Bank is a fast-growing locally owned bank that offers a personalised approach to every customer. Although our primary focus is on businesses, we are equally committed to serving private individuals. I believe our greatest strength is our ability to truly listen to every customer.

We have more than 16,000 customers, and our customer service centres operate in Riga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Ventspils and Jelgava. Accounts can also be opened remotely, but we are always ready to meet customers in person and help them resolve the issues that matter most to them.

A personal approach remains valuable

— Many banks are reducing face-to-face customer service.

That is true, but we work differently. Many of our customers know our employees by name, and that is a sign of trust. A personal approach and a genuine willingness to listen to customers remain one of our greatest strengths. This matters regardless of the time or the technology.

We strive to make our customers’ daily lives easier. For example, Industra Bank is the only bank in Latvia to offer a Business Income Account for micro-enterprise tax payers. This enables tax payments to be automated and significantly simplifies day-to-day financial management.

The greatest threat – fraudsters

— What is currently the biggest challenge facing bank customers?

Fraudsters. They are constantly refining their methods, and their victims include both senior citizens and young people.

That is why I encourage everyone to remain especially vigilant. If you have even the slightest doubt, contact your bank and verify the information. Fraudsters are skilled at persuading people, creating fear and generating a sense of urgency. The most important thing is not to rush and to maintain a critical mindset.

There have been occasions when I have personally spent hours talking to someone who had fallen victim to fraudsters and was ready to hand over their money. In many cases, we have managed to protect them. My advice is simple: it is best not to discuss money matters over the phone with people you do not know.
